William is the 5th generation of Beethams to farm in the Wainuioru Valley. William has a Diploma of Farm Management from Lincoln University, is a qualified Environmental Management Systems Auditor, has completed post graduate papers in Environmental Economics and Environmental Impact Assessment, and recently completed the New Zealand Institute of Directors Governance Development Programme.
William began his career working on farms as a shepherd before moving on to study at Lincoln University. After completing his qualification he began a professional career with AGFirst Consultants in Gisborne working as the assistant to the Agricultural Engineer. Eventually the big wide world beckoned and William moved to England taking up a position as a Rural Land Manager for Defence Estates in England. It was during this time William came to understand the importance of creating partnerships to achieve common outcomes, even with the resources available to the British MoD key outcomes could not be achieved without creating parnerships. William then moved to Australia to work in a compliance role, before taking on a Business Managers role for a large commercial business in Australia. Willam has now spent the past six years working hard on developing his farming skills and knowledge to secure the Beetham family legacy for the next generation.
